Regarding dogs’ access to the beach, the provisions of the Bathing Ordinance of the Municipality of Caorle – Animal Protection Regulations, Article 9 bis, must be observed:

“Anyone accessing the free beaches of the Municipality of Caorle with dogs, including the shoreline and the areas in front of beach concessions, where dogs may only pass through and may not remain, must keep them on a leash no longer than 1.50 m and provide them with a suitable muzzle. The muzzle requirement does not apply to very small dogs when they are carried, or to any dog while stationary, provided that there are no other people or animals within a radius of 30 m. Handlers must, however, always carry a muzzle to be used when necessary.”

Art. 1 – Identification and vaccination

Access to the beach is permitted only to dogs identified by microchip or tattoo. All dogs must have a valid rabies vaccination, supported by appropriate veterinary documentation (pet passport, health record or Form 12). Pre-exposure rabies vaccination is mandatory.

Art. 2 – Bathing area

The area where dogs are allowed to swim is marked by buoys.

There are no time restrictions for bathing.

Art. 3 – Preventive care and health conditions

Owners are advised to have their dogs regularly vaccinated against the main infectious diseases (distemper, leptospirosis and parvovirus), as well as treated against the main parasites. Dogs with cardiovascular conditions should not be brought onto the beach.

Art. 4 – Flea collar and leash

Before entering the beach, every dog must wear a flea collar or equivalent protection. On the beach, the dog must be kept on a leash at least 1.5 metres long, securely fastened to a stake or other stable support firmly anchored in the sand.

Art. 5 – Muzzle

The owner or handler must always carry a rigid or soft muzzle, to be fitted whenever necessary for the safety of people or animals, or when requested by on-site staff or the competent authorities.

Art. 6 – Safety, water and shade

The handler must ensure that the dog cannot reach nearby people or animals. A bowl of fresh water must always be available, and the animal must be provided with a shaded area where it can shelter from the sun.

Art. 7 – Dog waste

Solid waste must be removed immediately and disposed of in the designated bins. Liquid waste must be sprayed and rinsed away with plenty of seawater by the owner.

Art. 8 – Behaviour and access restrictions

The handler must prevent prolonged barking or excessively lively behaviour as far as possible. Otherwise, the handler will be required to leave the beach. Supervisory staff have the unquestionable right to request removal.

Dogs displaying aggressive behaviour and females in heat are not permitted.

Art. 9 – Walks away from the beach

Approximately every two hours, the handler must take the dog away from the beach for a walk.

Art. 10 – Allocation of beach umbrellas

The beach establishment manager assigns the umbrella to the family accompanied by a dog and may arrange for it to be moved if necessary for the proper operation of the service. Each umbrella may accommodate no more than 4 people and 2 dogs.

Art. 11 – Supervision and liability

Dogs must never be left unattended or allowed to roam freely. The owner bears full civil and criminal liability for any damage caused. On-site staff will supervise compliance with these regulations.

Art. 12 – Violations and reports

In the event of a violation of these regulations, the person responsible will be asked to leave the establishment. Management reserves the right to report breaches of the law to the competent authorities, including the Local Police and the ULSS health authority, for example the absence of a microchip or failure to comply with regulations concerning dangerous dogs.

Art. 13 – Staying within the designated area

Within the designated beach, dogs may not remain outside the area reserved for dog bathing. To stay on the beach with a pet, an umbrella must be booked through the beach service.
